UFO Quilt #1 - Hand Appliqued Santa Quilt

This quilt is amazing... I started with such a flourish and then ran out of confidence with it. Silly really - when I look at what I have done I should be so proud and so ready to continue on.

I have taken a picture - and of course I can't find the cord to transfer the pictures to the computer. Ugh! Will look tomorrow.

So anyway, this quilt was started at a course with................ at Grandmothers Garden in Gordonton. I was supposed to finish the whole thing over 5 or so months. Ha! Well I have made this block and started another one. Fabric choice was a huge stumbling block for me - I have purchased enough fabric to complete it so just need to get the old confidence out of the bag.

Pictures to come tomorrow when I find the cord.

New ideas and lots of lettuce to eat

Well, there went a few weeks. The veges are looking very amazing, even my seedlings are sprouting up and nearly ready to plant out. We have another two vege beds going in this week - on for lots of vegetables and one for tomatoes. I am looking forward to spring arriving and the longer days it will bring with it.

So onto another plan for this blog. I am also a quilter - I haven't been doing a lot of that for a long long time but with the help of a wonderful friend in Australia I am feeling like tinkering again. Thanks Vicki!

My first thing I want to do is make a list of UFO's and post them with pictures. Then as I work on them I want to keep track of what I am achieving - this next couple of years in my life is all about achieving.

So for the next couple of weeks I plan to list these beautiful quilts that I have started in the past. Then in the next couple of years show them as they are completed and used in my home.

So here goes......

So there goes a year

It always amazes me how fast time seems to fly as you get older. Saying that tho, maybe it is just because things are so busy and there isn't time to get through everything I plan to. V. frustrating.

So this Sunday afternoon we have spent a few hours working on the plastic house. We have put in four garden beds - one with general lettuces etc, one with lots and lots of strawberry plants and the other two yet to be prepared for tomatoes in a few weeks.

We have lots of plants in there that are unloved and in quite a sad state. Started today sorting through these pots. I planted up 10 or so Portulacaria Afra... a mini jade tree - would love to learn bonsai on these but will see what kind of shape they take as they get healthier. I also discovered a few ponytail plants, repotted these - they were totally rootbound and were quite yellow, is going to be great to see them take on some colour and size.

I also planted some vege seeds. Put in some lettuce, spinach, rocket and eggplants. It is the middle of winter here so is exciting to use the plastic house to have fresh veges at this time of year.

So today was all about the garden down there in the orchard, tomorrow back to work Lots to day and my first week of trying out the extra hours on my own in the shop. Could be interesting!
